Great news for event planners from Event Magazine, which reports that “The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising’s (IPA) Bellwether report released today (18 January) reveals that event marketing budgets rose for a 13th consecutive quarter.”

Eventopedia – the leading online community for corporate meetings and event planners – announced that it has been accepted into the Microsoft BizSpark Plus programme. This means they have been awarded $120,000 of Azure cloud services over two years, as well as technical support and a range of other services reports Event Industry News.

6. New App Creates Snapchat-Like Photo Filters for Events

We know event organisers love new tech to play with, so how about this? BizBash writes that “Planners looking to offer a photo-sharing experience at their events have a new option from EventsTag. Snap Mask is a facial-recognition masking app that the company created to enable brands to offer a Snapchat-like experience at events.”

8. Glastonbury festival will move home in 2019 – as The Variety Bazaar

Glastonbury remains one of the most iconic events on the UK calendar, so it’s big news when the owner reveals they’re moving location (albeit not permanently) and changing the name when it’s away from home. Check out this Guardian report for more details.

9. Number of grassroots London venues remains stable for first time in 10 years, says report

Some good news (finally) for grassroots festivals in the capital, writes Music Week. “A progress report on London’s grassroots music venues has been published this morning, showing that the number of venues has remained “stable” for the first time since 2007.”
