We recently spoke to Issy – one half of Season’s Eatings – about supperclubs, Manchester’s thriving food scene and experimenting with recipes.

Tell me a bit about yourself and your supperclub events

My colleague Suzy and I are friends from university and have both been working as chefs for years. We’ve shared hopes and ideas about food for a long time and decided to begin a supperclub to try to create delicious and interesting food inspired by flavours, the seasons, contrasts and texture. We’re very keen to host a communal and casual atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

Season’s Eatings started out as a residency at Trove in Levenshulme as a bit of an experiment, and it’s grown from there.

What food trends do you think we’re going to see in Manchester in 2015?

Hopefully no more burgers!

Seriously though, there are a lot of new, exciting places and some big names are opening up in the city this year – the food scene’s rapidly improving.

Do you think we’ll see more supperclubs?

More and more supperclubs seem to be popping up over the city at the moment, which is great. It’s a brilliant way to meet people and try new things as a customer, and as a host it gives you the opportunity to try things out and cater for people without the pressure and overheads of a full-time business.

What do you love about organising supperclubs?

It’s great to meet the guests at the end of the evening and get honest feedback. Often when you work in kitchens you don’t ever see the customers you’re cooking for.

What are the biggest challenges?

When we do our supperclub at Fig and Sparrow, there is no kitchen so we take our own equipment and set up in the basement! It can get very hot and we have to be very organised to pull it off!

How has Eventbrite helped you plan your events?

Eventbrite is a useful tool for selling tickets and contacting guests of past and future events. A great time saver!

Do you have any advice for other supperclub organisers?

Just go for it. When we started off it was really just a one-off to see if people would come – now we’re into our second year.

Oh, and most importantly, have fun!

Season’s Eatings next supperclub is on March 12 – tickets here. Follow them @seasoneatmcr for info about future events.
