Non-fungible tokens have been around since 2015, although it’s only in 2021 they have really blown up. Holding an NFT is like holding a real-life piece of art, only, all transactions are stored on the blockchain, and you can earn certain rights and rewards from being part of NFT communities.

With the hype building, hundreds of projects have been launching every week. However, a number of these have turned out to be rug pulls or frauds, which makes the NFT space a pretty hard space to navigate around.

There are a number of different features which build an Ape. These comprise of accessories, clothing, earrings, emotion, eyes, glasses, hat, jacket, mouth props, necklace, nose, skin, and teeth. Although there is only one current collection of Prime Ape planet, that’s not to say there won’t be another official collection released soon. For example, the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club released the Mutant Ape Yacht Club project in 2021, which was a twist on the original project’s art. These sub-projects tend to have slightly less value than the mother project, however, with the price of Prime Ape Planet being so high, a sub-project could generate significant hype were it to be released.

It’s also a fun event for users to look forward to and hence they may be dismayed from selling their Ape NFT.

A final point on the roadmap which may excite investors is the fact that the Prime Ape Planet project has donated $50,000 dollars to the International Fund of Animal Welfare. They have also announced that they are in talks with other organizations to try and promote animal welfare. Why is Prime Ape Planet so expensive?

The main reason why Prime Ape planet is so expensive is due to a combination of the elements discussed above. Firstly, it has a strong community, secondly the artwork is exceptionally detailed, and thirdly, the roadmap is very exciting. When these elements come together in any NFT project, they tend to create high value NFTs. Once these NFTs start to gain traction and sell for high prices on the market, investors are drawn into the project, and it tends to snowball from there.

Although the current price of Prime Ape Planet may seem high, it’s one of the cheapest it has ever been. If the project announces some new exciting news to the community, it could easily shoot up to the multiple ETH level it was a few months ago. Therefore, now might actually be a good time to buy into the project.

The most expensive Prime Ape Planet that is currently listed as ‘Buy Now’ on OpenSea is 666666 ETH which equates to around £1.3bn dollars. Although this is the highest listed item, it is highly unlikely anyone will pay that much for such an item. However, one notable purchase from OpenSea was of Prime Ape Planet #4279 which was brought for 69 ETH 2 months ago. At today’s price of ETH, this translates to around £136,000 – an astounding sum. That being said, it is the 5th rarest item in the whole collection and hence one would expect it to carry huge value. It is currently listed on OpenSea for 95ETH, or around $250,000.

Whilst the floor price hovers around the 0.6/0.7 ETH level, it is very common for apes to sell for 1 ETH or above on the secondary market. For example, Prime Ape Planet #697 sold for 1 ETH just 21 hours ago.

Prime Ape Planet Rarity

As mentioned above, the rarity of the apes is calculated by the different traits that they have. There are also some 1 of 1 apes which are apes that have completely individual characteristics. For example, the joker ape above is a 1 of 1 ape, and hence its price is extremely high.

Another extremely rare trait that some apes have is black wings. There are only 154 of these apes in the entire collection and they have been very sought after. The current lowest price of a black-winged ape is 1.69 ETH. As seen below, this price quickly escalates to over the 3 ETH level, making it a great trait to have.

Most of the other apes have tonnes of other traits which can be explored on Opensea by using the filtering options. At current, most of the super rare apes aren’t available to purchase, as the holders haven’t listed them. For example, out of the 7900 items, there are only 695 items currently listed for sale. This highlights the strength of the community as they are most likely holding for long-term growth.

A gas fee is the reward given to miners for putting transactions in the blockchain, or executing transactions, and comes in the form of payment on top of your buy price, or a deduction from your sell price. There are exchanges where gas fees aren’t a problem, however. For example, SolSea and Magic Eden use Solana instead of Ethereum to trade and therefore don’t pay gas fees. Binance also offers an NFT marketplace, where it uses its BNB Coin for transactions. There are gas fees, however, and the projects are also pretty low level and lack the same popularity that OpenSea generates.

In addition to this, the highly encouraging roadmap of the project could help push up the price in the future. The next big thing in the roadmap is the poisoned bananas, which will likely create a new set of NFTs for investors with different traits to their original Prime Apes. There is also an expected collaboration with a famous fashion brand. Whilst the brand has not been announced exact brand as of yet, this could significantly help push the project to new audiences and drive up the price in the process.
