Term life is a cheap life insurance option that provides coverage for a specified number of years.  American Equity Investment Life offers plans in 5, 10, 15 and 20 year terms.  If the policyholder dies within that contracted period, death benefits will be paid to the family.  Otherwise, the policy expires at the end of the term and must be renewed if future coverage is desired.
