Assurant Health can trace its roots all the way back to Wisconsin in 1892. It was then that the LaCrosse Mutual Aid Association was formed to provide disability insurance. The company would change its name to Time Insurance Company and undergo several transformations before becoming Assurant in 2004.

Today, Assurant Health is one of four businesses operating under the Assurant name. Employing more than 2,000 workers and providing coverage for more than one million members, the insurer offers a diverse product line of individual and small group policies.

The health insurance plans offered by Assurant Health may vary by state.

Other products offered by Assurant Health include dental, critical illness and accident insurance. The company’s policies are available in 48 states and the District of Columbia.

The company has been lauded for its ability to convey information in easy-to-understand language and received two ClearMark Awards in 2013 in recognition of its clear and consumer-friendly communications.

Assurant Health is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis. Its parent firm, Assurant Inc., is a publicly traded Fortune 500 company with 14,500 employees.
