And so as we look to August, we come to the last month of summer (cue violins). Not to put any pressure on you but you basically have one month to get your summer on!
The good news is there are five weekends in August, so that’s five chances of owning the summer. As always, we’re here to show you all the things to do in London this weekend. You know the drill: Prey for sun, prepare for rain!
Tarantino Night
Ever been in that position where you really want to watch some Tarantino films but also want to go bowling? Okay, we haven’t either – but if we did this would be the event for us! There’ll be Tarintino films being played, as well as the soundtracks, bowling, karaoke, themed cocktails (Adrenalin shots and the Gin-glorious bastard) a best costume competition, Jack Rabbit Slim’s twist contest, and music provided by DJ Diddywah (Glastonbury, Big chill regular), as well as DJ’s Lord Anthony and Chris Rocks. With all these amazing things going on, surely it’s better than just staying at home and wiggling your toe!

War on the Home Front Exhibition
To mark the centenary of the First World War, Alexandra Palace’s ‘War on the Home Front’ exhibition tells the little known story of the Palace’s role 100 years ago. Between 1914 & 1918 Alexandra Palace was first home to thousands of Belgians fleeing the German invasion before becoming an internment camp for non-naturalised German, Austrian and Hungarian men who were considered a danger to the UK’s war effort. The exhibition will uncover the personal stories and experiences of those imprisoned at the camp and the dramatic change in local attitudes to how the Palace was being used.

Dine Street- Howard’s Meat Co.
Everyone knows that beer and barbecue is pretty much a perfect combination. And beer, barbecue and a Sunday afternoon are even better! The guys from Howard’s Meat Co. will be heading down to Brew By Numbers brewery to serve some of their slow cooked meats alongside some BBNO’s fresh beers. All the draught beers have been chosen to match the food being served up, so should complete the meat perfectly. Howard’s Meat Co have been building a following around London for their meats smoked the Central Texas way. That means using a 10ft 100% wood fired smoker, 16 hour cooks, a lot of pepper and ensuring that the chef drinks a few beers along the way. I know, we’re hungry and thirst now too!
