    About the Job
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Fellow to work in the Strategic Hub for Innovation and Financial Technology Office (FinHub). We are excited to offer this dynamic Fellow position to coders with a background in data science or software engineering and an interest in distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and financial technologies (FinTech). We are looking for someone who can both read and write code in several of the most popular languages used in DLT (including those that underpin crypto-assets and “DeFi”) and who has the ability to apply that baseline skillset to emerging technologies. While an extensive knowledge of the crypto-asset or financial markets is not required, an interest and substantive experience in either – or both – is strongly preferred. This position is geared toward doers who are interested in joining an agile, multidisciplinary team and working on cutting-edge issues that impact the financial industry. Candidates should be excited to educate themselves and others regarding cutting-edge FinTech through topic-based deep dives and sprint analyses.

Please visit our website for more information on FinHub: https://www.sec.gov/finhub.

MISSION STATEMENT: FinHub advances the Commission’s mission to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation by serving as the central hub for issues and initiatives related to technology-enabled innovation in financial services. FinHub utilizes and augments existing institutional expertise concerning cutting-edge technologies and innovation, as advancements in these areas foreshadow the future direction of the financial industry. A core FinHub role is to identify, integrate, and assimilate new technological developments and, in turn, help educate staff across the Commission on the intersection of these technologies and the federal securities laws.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: We are recruiting for a Fellow position, which is a unique term-limited role at the Commission.

    1. Fellows are hired on an initial two-year (temporary) appointment. At the agency’s discretion, the initial appointment may be extended for up to an additional two years. The total term of appointment for the Fellow position cannot exceed four years.

    2. To apply for the Fellow position, you must submit a complete application package to: FinHub_Jobs@sec.gov.

    3. You must meet the following requirements to be eligible for consideration:
    a. CITIZENSHIP: United States citizenship is required.
    b. EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree or higher (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) from an accredited university or college.
    c. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: The candidate’s resume must reflect experience in data science, software coding, or software engineering, preferably with a focus on blockchain/crypto. This experience must be demonstrated in the following ways: (a) experience coding in several languages, such as solidity, python, javascript, golang, etc.; (b) working knowledge of distributed ledger technology, including blockchains, smart contracts, crypto, DeFi, NFTs, algorithmic approaches to crypto pricing, staking, and other emerging technologies in the field; and (c) an ability to communicate complex FinTech concepts to a broad, potentially non-technical, audience.

    4. To receive consideration for this position, you must submit or complete the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: curriculum vitae or resume and a list of three references. Your application will not be considered until it is complete.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please take care when drafting your resume to include your entire relevant employment history. Please specify the full start and finish dates (year, month, and day) for each job listed in your entire reported employment history. Incomplete information will result in lower salary offers.

    5. Letters of recommendation are accepted, but are not required. They may be sent to FinHub_Jobs@sec.gov.

    6. All qualification requirements and supporting documentation must be received by the closing date of this announcement.
