Drive-In Film Club: Pulp Fiction

If you’ve ever wondered why anyone would need a car in London, it has to be for the Drive-In Film Club. Set next to the iconic Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally to us cool kids) set your radio to the right frequency, wave to any of the waiter skaters for snacks and supplies, then sit back, relax and enjoy the movie, Americana style. What better film to go and see than the cult classic Pulp Fiction. Here’s hoping we can order a Durwood Kirby burger – bloody – and a five-dollar shake!

Looking at Strange Creatures

Have you ever looked at creatures before and thought about how strange they look? This talk is all about how art has been used to communicate the many strange and unknown animals of the world. The talk is hosted by a range of speakers, including the street artist, ATM, who specialises in painting endangered birds. You’ll also get a chance to have a private viewing of the Strange Creatures and get up close to some of our amazing specimens. The day includes a free lunch, refreshments, and a chance to meet our speakers.

Spirited Mixers Rooftop Gin Tasting

What better way to spend these gorgeous summer days than on a sunny London rooftop for a delicious Gin tasting class! Pongplexed

With so many ping pong venues in London, you’d be forgiven for thinking there was nothing special about Pongplexed. However, this is ping pong like you’ve never experienced before. There’s twisted tables, DJ’s. outdoor sprayed tables, and most importantly, amazing vibes. Better still it’s all free with an Eventbrite ticket. Pongplexed were asked to go to Boomtown festival for a reason, as they always bring such amazing festival vibes to their events.

Book & Brunch Club: Persepolis 

Join Making Herstory for brunch whilst browsing through the insightful and accessible Persepolis.  You’ll be taking through the experiences and the world of Iran through the eyes of Satrapi, who bears witness to a childhood uniquely entwined with the history of her country. Making Herstory works to end the abuse, enslavement and trafficking of women and girls in whatever way we can. This new monthly fair is set in the stunning Clapton Round Chapel in Hackney with a carefully curated mix of vintage and local makers. Cooking and Eating the Past

For some people, history has always been a boring subject. Remembering dates, names, battles and so on and so on…zzzz. Well it’s time to experience history through food! Experience the smells, the tastes and feel of food from historic recipes. With a hands-on practical cookery session, you will have the chance to create a dish from a seventeenth or eighteenth century recipe and (best of all) eat what you make! This is the type of history lesson we can easily stomach.
