Introducing a robot dog that can do almost anything a real dog can, except shed hair and go to the toilet. Explore today's blog to see what else KODA's new invention can do.

Do you want a pet without the responsibility or pressure of looking after one? Animals can bring so much joy and love to your life, but they’re a long commitment that requires careful consideration. At CES 2021, KODA Inc. unveiled a solution to this dilemma: the first-ever decentralized AI robot dog that’ll interact with you.

Interacts socially with its owner

Robot pets aren’t new to the tech world—take MOFLIN, for example, which was also announced at CES 2021. This can adjust its mood based on the environment and attention it receives from its owner. However, KODA’s decentralized AI robot dog can interact socially with human owners. In fact, it can sense when you’re sad, happy, or excited.

It’ll then respond in an appropriate manner based on your emotions. For example, it’ll become a companion when you’re feeling low or a guard dog when you’re anxious or alert. This is all thanks to AI technology that focuses on developing solutions to problems that arise. Best of all, this robot animal has a brain that’s constantly learning, so the more you interact with it, the more benefits you’ll get from it, says Emma Russell, CEO of KODA.

Takes high-quality images

KODA included 3D depth cameras on the front, back, and sides of the dog’s body. It even includes a 13-megapixel camera on the front to take high-quality photographs of its surroundings.

Moves and reacts like an animal

If you’ve ever had a pet, you’ve probably admired it from a distance—even when it’s sleeping on the sofa. This decentralized AI robot dog not only thinks and acts like a dog, but it moves like one, too. Boasting a fully functional head, it has a presence that monitors its surroundings. And the 14 high-torque motors on the neck resemble animal movements, so it doesn’t function like a robot. In particular, this design allows the robot pet to climb stairs and move through snow without any assistance.

You can even pet the robot dog, and its touch sensor allows it to respond to your touch. Plus, it has a microphone with 97% accuracy for voiceprint recognition. The company has yet to reveal more details about this microphone’s capability, but we assume it’s to react to your voice. Maybe it can even respond to commands, although there hasn’t been anything revealed about this at the moment.
